From September 8th to 19th 2025, the CSEL team, with the active support of Prof. Christian Tornau/Würzburg, held the Summer School Editing Latin Texts of Late Antiquity for students and graduates of relevant subjects.
Twenty-one people from various disciplines (classical philology, theology, medieval Latin and medieval history) from five European countries (Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Austria and Switzerland) took part in the summer school and had the opportunity to learn about editing first-hand: In a mix of lectures on methodological issues and practical testing, all steps of the process were played through, from collating and transcribing medieval codices to discussions on their stemmatic classification to the constitution of a recently discovered text of a late antique sermon, most likely by Augustine.
