The CSEL (Corpus Scriptorum Ecclesiasticorum Latinorum) is a research unit at the University of Salzburg (Classical Studies / Latin). For information on its History see here. It focusses on Latin Christian literature of Late Antiquity:
- Critical editions of the works of Latin Christian authors up to the seventh century (CSEL series, since 1866)
- Studies on the manuscript tradition of the works of Augustine of Hippo
- Philological, historical, and theological monographs accompanying the editions
CSEL is co-editing Wiener Studien, a journal for classical philology, patristics and Latin tradition.
Our books are published by De Gruyter, Berlin.
